Making It Easier For You Telephone Consultations
We know it can be difficult to get an appointment at your GP surgery.
Part of the reason for this is that many face-to-face appointments are used for problems that could be better dealt with over the telephone.
Similarly, patients who just want to discuss something over the telephone have to queue up for a face to face appointment because they have difficulty getting a telephone consultation.
In response to this, we are introducing a telephone consultation service to help you get the appointment you need much easier.
The surgery will now be offering structured telephone consultations, Monday to Friday mornings. When you call the surgery, if you are offered this service, your details will be taken and a GP will call you back at the pre-booked time. This GP has full access to your records and Beechwood administration services and can organize whatever is needed just as your usual GP does.
If you need to be seen by a GP, the GP you speak to will book you a face-face appointment with a GP at Beechwood Medical Centre later that same day or in a couple of days time if it is not urgent.
Children under 2 and patients with visual conditions such as rashes will be directly booked into a face-to-face appointment, unless you specifically request a telephone call.
If you have any queries about the telephone service, please contact reception.
Thank you for your patience at this time of change, and we hope you find new the new service beneficial.

Automated Telephone Booking System
Did you know you can book, cancel or amend appointments at any time of the day or night? To do this you simply need to have your telephone number registered at the Practice and to know your own date of birth. Then you simply ring the normal Practice telephone number and select the automated option. You will then be given options to choose the appointment that you want. The system is designed for routine appointments only and also has a repeat prescription facility. Therefore you can book an appointment or repeat prescription from anywhere in world at any time of the day or night. Please ensure that you keep your registered telephone number up-to-date to use this service. The telephone number remains at local geographic rates.

Introduction
We aim to provide a high standard of medical care in a friendly and professional manner. We have invested heavily in making our practice and staff user-friendly. You can book appointments online or by telephone 24/7 from anywhere in the world. To use the online system you need to register for the service. The automated telephone system simply requires that your date of birth and telephone number are accurately recorded by the surgery. We have also recently built a new Pharmacy on-site. We will continue to develop the building and our services with your help and support. We care about quality and care about your healthcare.
Patient Feedback
We are constantly looking to improve what we do and welcome feedback either directly, through our in-practice suggestions box or via e-mail and text. Please get involved and help us deliver what you want, when you want it.
Emergencies
If you are confronted by a serious problem such as severe chest pain or severe bleeding call an ambulance (Tel: 999) before calling the surgery.
Disabled Access
At Beechwood Medical Centre reserved car parking spaces for disabled patients are marked near the entrance. All services are provided at ground floor level and a disabled patients' WC is provided near the front entrance. A display board informs patients who are hard of hearing when the doctor is ready to see them. We also use an induction loop to help patients who have hearing impairments. You may wish to look at our Accessibility Policy. Beechwood Medical Centre has the use of wheelchairs should they be needed. Please arrange this with the reception team.
Waiting in the reception area
Parents with small children are requested to exercise some parental control so that other patients, particularly the more frail, are not excessively disturbed by unsocial behaviour. There is a separate area for children to play in supervised by their parents away from the main waiting room with its own appointment call display board. The waiting room has access to free Wi-Fi but your mobile device should be on silent whilst in the surgery. This is for the benefit of all patients and staff.
